I have always wanted to be an artist. Against the objection of my parents who wanted me to be a dentist, I was able to get into artist school based on my early display of my technical skills. In Taiwan, these skills are judged to be most important in the consideration of qualifications. However, I realized that if I wanted to move from just being technicals proficient to making meaningful and thoughtful art, I would need to pursue my art career in the United States where the global aesthetic and mercantile dialogue originates.
